Leather with depth, shaped by the hands of skilled artisans.
Italian hides are slowly vegetable-tanned, then carefully infused by artisans with seal brown aniline dye. This time-intensive process creates a translucent richness of color and a deep, expressive finish that preserves the natural character of the leather.

The creases and subtle variations in color unique to genuine leather are part of what gives each jacket its individuality. With every wear, the leather develops greater luster and depth, gradually molding to the wearer's body and evolving into a truly one-of-a-kind piece.

The neckline features a large collar with a collar stand, creating the bold character distinctive to Rough Wear’s A-2 jackets. Snap buttons at the collar points and a hook at the neck allow the collar to be secured and neatly shaped.

Some pilots of the era were known to hang a whistle from the neck hook as part of their rescue equipment. Small details like this offer a glimpse into how airmen actually wore their A-2 jackets, inviting you to imagine how these jackets were used and worn by pilots of the time.



Epaulettes are placed at the shoulders, while a front wind flap helps block out drafts. Flap pockets with snap-button closures are positioned on both sides.

These details are not merely decorative; they reflect the functional beauty shaped by the jacket’s original purpose as military apparel.





Wool ribbing at the cuffs and hem helps keep out cold air while fitting closely around the wrists and waist. It sharpens the short leather body and creates the distinctive, defined silhouette associated with the A-2.



The lining is made from 100% cotton broadcloth. Its smooth, lightweight construction makes the jacket easy to slip on while preserving the substantial character of the leather exterior.

After the U.S. Army Air Forces required the marking "PROPERTY AIR FORCE" from mid-1942 onward, two labels were sewn together inside the jacket in a distinctive twin-label configuration.

This symbolic detail reflects the period of the original contract and faithfully recreates the production background of the era.

The shoulders are cut slightly compact, while the body retains a comfortable amount of room for a balanced fit. The short length sits around the waist, where the ribbed hem draws in the silhouette for a clean, defined finish.

With every wear, the movement of your body is etched into the leather through natural creasing. Over the years, the jacket gradually develops into an A-2 that is uniquely your own.
