SUGAR CANE
With a distinctly American name meaning “sugar cane,” SUGAR CANE was the first Japanese apparel manufacturer established after World War II to produce clothing for the U.S. market. Founded in 1965 to manufacture garments for the U.S. military, the brand initially supplied clothing to personnel stationed at American military bases in Japan.

Following the end of the Vietnam War, SUGAR CANE shifted its focus to the domestic market. Since then, it has continued to uphold authentic American standards of quality in workwear, particularly denim.

Authentic 14.25oz Selvedge Denim, Woven on Vintage Looms
The denim features uneven indigo yarns developed to recreate the look of traditional vintage dyes originally created by BASF in Germany. A blend of Zimbabwean and American cotton is slowly woven on traditional Japanese shuttle looms, creating a rich, textured denim with authentic vintage character.



Finished with a one-wash treatment, these jeans feel soft from the first wear while offering plenty of opportunities to enjoy the unique fades and character that develop over time.





Vintage Character Meets Modern Japanese Craftsmanship
Following the design of 1947 vintage jeans, the front features a button fly rather than a zipper fly. Original engraved iron buttons recreate the authentic vintage atmosphere down to the smallest detail.



The edge of the coin pocket is finished with selvedge detailing, while pressed copper rivets provide additional reinforcement.



The leather patch is crafted from genuine deerskin.





The waist features a classic five-pocket construction.



Just like vintage jeans from an era before sizing standards were fully unified, the construction faithfully recreates historical details by using dozens of different cotton threads in varying colors and thicknesses throughout the garment.

Different cotton threads are carefully selected according to each section, and the hem is finished with authentic chain stitching for exceptional durability.
