TOWNCRAFT
Established in 1927, TOWNCRAFT is one of JC PENNEY's signature store brands, alongside BIC MAC and PAY-DAY. Drawing inspiration from vintage clothing of the 1950s through the 1970s, the brand creates pieces with an emphasis on comfort and ease of wear.







Vintage character from the very first wear
The cotton shell balances a lightly structured feel with comfortable lightness. A pigment treatment creates natural fading across the fabric and seams, giving it the rich character of a jacket worn and enjoyed for years.



A smooth lining allows the jacket to slip easily over sweatshirts and knitwear. Deliberately made without insulation, it is an ideal light outer layer for the cooler days of early spring and early fall.





A classic jacket, reimagined for today
First introduced in the 1960s, the derby jacket became a favorite among skaters, punks, and rock 'n' rollers in the 1980s, particularly within the American West Coast hardcore scene, earning its place as an enduring symbol of cool.

Although the name may bring equestrian jackets to mind, the term "Derby jacket" actually comes from Derby of San Francisco, the company that originally produced this style.





Classic details that stand out through simplicity
The rib-knit collar fits comfortably around the neck. Its clean profile frames the face neatly while preserving the classic character of the derby jacket.



The defining detail is the derby jacket's signature cup-in shoulder construction, with curved seams running from the shoulders toward the underarms. Unlike a typical jacket, this distinctive paneling adds a subtle touch of character to the otherwise simple design.



The front features a zipper from IDEAL, a long-established American zipper manufacturer. A concealed placket keeps the zipper out of sight, creating a clean, streamlined finish.



Zippered pockets sit on both sides, with an additional interior pocket at the left chest.



Snug rib-knit cuffs are paired with ribbing along the back of the hem only. This keeps the front looking clean while creating natural volume through the back.





A Shorter Length for Just the Right Balance
The roomy, boxy silhouette is complemented by ribbed cuffs and hem that add a natural rounded shape. For the 2026 model, the length and fit have been refined to create a relaxed look that feels neat rather than oversized.

The shorter length visually raises the waistline, helping the legs appear longer. Even when paired with wide-leg pants, it keeps the overall look from feeling too heavy, creating a balanced, grown-up casual style.
